we are looking for you!

We’re seeking a passionate and organized Research Coordinator to join our team at Gili Shark Conservation / NGO Gili Matra Bersama. If you’re a certified dive professional with experience in marine science/conservation and a knack for data analysis, we want to hear from you! This role involves coordinating research projects, guiding scientific dives, collecting and analyzing data and teaching shark warriors scientific and conservation courses.

* Please note: This position is only open to Indonesian citizens.

You are a friendly, outgoing person who loves to take initiative.

You have a strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to keep a helicopter view.

You have the ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain composure in challenging situations.

You are a confident diver (divemaster or instructor) with experience in diving in currents and managing the planning and logistics of research diving.

You love teaching others about the importance of conservation and how to become a scientific diver and get excited about the oppertunity to become a Conservation Diver Trainer.

You are flexible and able to adapt well to change.

You have a strong passion for making positive changes through conservation efforts and have creative ideas on how to achieve this.

You have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar position and are ready to start a new adventure in your career between the 1st of May and the 1st of June 2024.

You love working in a small team and would love to live on a small island (Gili Air – Lombok).

what you'll be doing:

As a Research Coordinator, you’ll be at the heart of our marine conservation efforts. Your responsibilities will include:

 

Acting as a research coordinator, maintaining an overview of different research projects and providing assistance to program managers as needed.

Collaborating with project managers to understand the data requirements for upcoming dives and creating detailed research plans and schedules.

Collecting data for different research projects while ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Inputting and analysing collected data to contribute to research findings.

Educate and mentor our Shark Warriors through scientific and conservation courses, enhancing their diving skills, and providing training in various restoration methods.

Working closely with the Operational Manager to ensure smooth coordination of dive activities.

requirements

Bachelor’s degree in marine science or a similar field of study.

Certified divemaster or instructor with a minimum of 100 logged dives.

Previous experience in guiding scientific dives and coordinating research activities.

Proficiency in data collection, input, and analysis.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia (spoken and written).

1-Year Contract: You’ll have a fixed 1-year contract with a 1-month trial period to start.

Competitive Salary: We offer a salary based on your skills and experience, ranging from 7,000,000 to 10,000,000 IDR.
