The Contract Manager will oversee all contractual matters related to the mining company's operations, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards while maximizing the company's commercial interests. This role involves drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with various stakeholders, including suppliers, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Drafting and Negotiation:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure terms are fair, clear, and align with company policies and objectives.
Collaborate with legal counsel and other departments to address contract-related issues and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigating measures during contract negotiations.
Contract Management:
Oversee the administration of contracts from inception to completion, ensuring all parties adhere to the agreed terms.
Maintain a centralized contract management system, ensuring all contracts are accurately recorded, stored, and easily accessible.
Monitor contract performance and compliance, addressing any issues or discrepancies that arise.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, procurement, and other relevant departments to ensure alignment on contract terms and execution.
Serve as the primary point of contact for contractual matters with external parties, including suppliers, contractors, and clients.
Facilitate communication and resolution of contract-related disputes.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
Identify potential risks in contractual agreements and implement strategies to mitigate those risks.
Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to contract management.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and present regular reports on contract status, performance metrics, and compliance issues to senior management.
Maintain comprehensive and organized documentation of all contracts and related correspondence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or legal qualification is a plus.
Minimum of [X] years of experience in contract management, preferably within the mining or related industry.
Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in contract management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
