This position is responsible to assists in the overall operation of chemical, environmental and compliance programs for the power generating facility, preparation of and monitoring of the chemical treatment budget.


Some of your duties will include:

Perform engineering or skilled trades duties in the modification, installation, replacement, testing, repair or monitoring of related power plant equipment, system, or facilities.
Designs, coordinates, conducts and evaluates biological/ environmental studies/ projects/ programs/systems, e.g., Stack emissions (CEMS & COMS) program, stream flow impacts, image analysis and in situ water quality assessment
Estimate time and material costs on various Power Plant projects; and requisition supplies and equipment to complete assigned projects.\
Develop maintenance standards and guidelines for related Power Plant equipment.
In coordination with Planner, recommend minimum spare parts needed for related Power Plant equipment.
Investigate report and recommend corrective action for Power Plant equipment failures and/or damage.
Provides technical expertise and guidance to management and others inside and outside the company on biological/environmental issues and compliance
Orient, train, assign and check the work of other employee; act as a “lead” on complex or large Power Plant projects.
Ensures compliance with all ROI laws/regulation regarding water and air quality management and emission/discharge.
Serves on industry, professional, and company committees regarding environmental issues
Responsible as direct power plant contact regarding all environmental issues, various power plant permit compliance and audit
Interfaces regularly with environmental groups and regulatory agencies to address issues and concerns related to licensing, re-licensing, permit applications, environmental compliance and impact, etc.
Technical evaluation of sampling, analysis, and chemical treatment of boiler/steam generator/feedwater systems to assure proper water quality and purity in accordance with operating chemistry specifications.
Conduct a periodic water treatment and boiler water performance analysis including plant performance analysis
Identifies, evaluates, and procures new instrumentation, equipment, tools, and materials needed to support/improve chemistry systems operations.
Identifies need for and revises procedures to upgrade quality, clarity, and to reflect current technological and operational philosophies.
Leads/coordinates special chemistry-related projects, programs, or studies
Technical Writing and Documentation: Prepares and/or revises technical documents, e.g., reports, proposals, specifications, and procedures, and technical responses to requests from internal/external audit groups and proposed governmental regulation and legislation. Develops and/or maintains applicable database and software applications
Planning/Organizing/Scheduling: Ensures accomplishment of work unit goals through effective planning, organizing, and scheduling of one's individual work activities. Plans, prioritizes, and organizes work activities to achieve work unit goals in a timely and efficient manner.
Coordination/Communication: Develops and maintains positive working relationships in order to effectively coordinate work activities Interfaces with industry/environmental groups and regulatory agencies Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately in both oral and written communications. Conducts effective scientific/technical presentations meetings, and training.
Professional Development: Strives to continually develop and improve job related, technical knowledge and skills through completion of advanced training and certification programs; maintains a general knowledge of developments in other related technical areas and industry trends
Supporting/Representing the Company. Supports and follows company/ department/work group goals, policies, and procedures. Maintains high standards of professionalism in all contacts with customers, vendors regulatory agencies, commissions, other utilities, and the general public
Recommends courses of action to power plant management and site environmental group regarding power environmental matters to include air and quality management as well as special project work, i.e. used oil usage, groundwater monitoring, fresh/wastewater usage.
Maintain a motivated and productive staff by assisting the Senior Engineer Power Plant with performance management and employee development and training.
Assist with conducting weekly shift meetings to cover facility operations, safety and work rules. Often directs or leads meetings personally.
Develops a strong sense of teamwork within group and with other facility groups.
Conducts operations to comply with all safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
Keeps the Senior Engineer Power Plant informed of demineralized plant facility operating status and equipment problems.
Maintains accurate records and submits all required reports in a timely manner.
Plays a key role in maximizing facility profitability by developing a highly productive staff that is keenly cost conscious.

What skills and experience do you need?

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry or related field experience is required. 
Have minimum 8 years’ experiences in similar role and level in similar industry with 5 years in power business unit as an engineer
Working knowledge of computer systems (control systems, computerized relay systems). 
Demonstrated knowledge of environmental regulations of home country as well as mandated US EPA requirements for permitting and testing.
Performance/analysis engineering software
Perform both as auditee and auditor
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
Strong computer skills and be competent in all Microsoft Office software programs, as well as project-specific software.
Willing to work with regular working hours schedule in Batu Hijau Site, Sumbawa.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; good in coaching/mentoring; good analytical; conflict resolution.
