Requirements for a General Manager

Education:

Job Description for a General Manager 
Position Title: General Manager

Reports To: Owner

Position Summary:
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of operations at the hotel, day-to-day staff management, and guests. The GM should be an ambassador for the brand and the hotel, providing leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of our service culture, maximized operations, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership:

* Oversee the operations functions of the hotel, including but not limited to guest services, housekeeping, maintenance, and food & beverage.
* Lead and manage the hotel management team to ensure all departments run smoothly.
* Mentor and develop department heads and staff to ensure a motivated and skilled team.

Financial Management:

* Manage budgets, financial plans, and forecasts to maximize profitability.
* Analyze financial data and market trends to create strategies for cost control and revenue generation.
* Ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to financial policies and procedures.

Guest Experience:

* Ensure the highest levels of guest satisfaction and handle guest complaints and feedback efficiently.
* Monitor guest feedback and implement strategies to continuously improve service and guest experience.
* Ensure that the hotel meets or exceeds brand standards.

Operations:

* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and licensing laws.
* Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel to ensure a high standard of cleanliness and repair.
* Implement and maintain operational policies and procedures.

Sales and Marketing:

* Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the hotel and its services.
* Work with the sales and marketing team to attract new business and enhance the hotel's market position.
* Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders.

Human Resources:

* Recruit, train, and manage staff to ensure a high standard of service and professionalism.
* Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and development opportunities.
* Foster a positive work environment and culture of teamwork and excellence.

Strategic Planning:

* Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the hotel.
Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to ensure the hotel remains competitive.

Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a General Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
* Strong understanding of hotel management best practices and relevant laws and guidelines.
* Excellent customer service skills as well as a business mindset.
* Demonstrable aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
* Reliable with an ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
