The role of Sr. Engineer - Steam Systems and Utilities is responsible for supervise the technical aspects of operation and to give engineering level support to maintenance and operations with respect to the various Steam Systems across the smelter and at the Powerhouse area in particular, plus various Utilities Systems across the site. 



Key Responsibilities:

Operational Excellence

Supervising regular monitoring and reporting of efficiency indices during shift operations at the Steam System and other Utilities
Supervising regular monitoring and reporting of performance of existing installations at the Steam System and other Utilities and preparation of the annual predictive maintenance plan, including shutdown, in coordination with engineering departments
Compliance & Sustainability

Continuously reviewing sufficiency of the PI system and its optimum utilisation in view of present and in the future business and sustainability requirements
Monitoring analysis of compliance with environment norms with respect to keeping emissions within environmental guidelines and conserving energy and water at the Steam System and other Utilities
Profitability and Cost Optimisation

Collating analysis of consumption, inventory, including spares, and cost of procurement at the Steam System and other Utilities to operate with optimum level of stock and eliminate wastage
Supervising optimum utilisation of the PI to control expenses
Customer Centricity

Supervising supply of steam, water, nitrogen etc. as per specifications required to support production at the process plants
Supervising facilitation of optimum utilisation of the PI system through hardware and software support to all process plants and maintenance team to maximise efficiencies


Qualifications:

Graduate in Chemical Engineering; Mineral Processing; Pyrometallurgy; Metallurgical Engineering; Process Engineering or graduate in Mechanical Engineering
10+ years in heavy manufacturing or processing plants with notable design engineering, commissioning and operations experience in steam systems particularly large medium pressure boilers, superheaters, steam condensers, steam turbine generators, and related equipment such as reagent dosing systems, feedwater systems, economisers, and blowdown (flash) tanks.
Experience of a large-scale Oxygen Plant (Air Separation Unit) providing both oxygen and nitrogen to the smelter facility would be an added advantage
Domain knowledge of general industrial utility and reagent systems is required (cooling water including seawater cooling systems, cooling towers, compressed air, instrument air, process water, firewater, raw water, potable water, natural gas, diesel or petrol or HFO, sewage treatment, tailings water reclamation).
Advanced operational knowledge of water treatment plants is expected (ultrafiltration / reverse osmosis / electro-deionisation).
