SUPERINTENDENT SAFETY OPERATIONS
(National - Site Based)
Some of your duties will include:
Responsible to utilize strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills to guide the staff Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) to achieve full compliance with all legal and other requiremenets.
To manage side wide safety operations related issues for all project activities, to hold all employees accountable for high OHS standards, and promote a culture of HSE excellence.
To manage company objectives and all applicable Government of Indonesia regulatory and permit obligations for OHS, with reporting, compliance, and other statutory requirements.
To be accountable for the execution of plans/projects in each of these functions and responsible for the training and development of employees in OHS Department.
To manage and find the solution all operational OHS issues and improves safety performance among organization of site project (including Business Partner)
To act as a Manager OHS cover sitewide activity during Manager OHS was not available on site.
Audits compliance to company safety rules and policies, procedures and programs as well as Indonesian Government requirements.
Assists Departmental Managers in the implementation/Supervision of Safety/Loss Control activities; Working closely with respective Manager in his area responsibilities to ensure all OHS applied properly.
Support and work with Fire Emergency Services team in the implementation of emergency response procedures in his area of responsibilities.
Support and work with internal team in the implementation of OHH programs in his area of responsibilities.
Advises line management regarding safety rules, regulation, trends, statistics and compliance with rules and policies.
Participate at the accident investigation, observations, safety Interactions, Inspections, Safety meetings to assure that program are working as intended.
Prepares work schedule and weekly report.
Ensures compliance with company Standard Task Procedures.
Assist line supervisor to have observation/ Safety Interactions for their positions.
Provide required resources to achieve the compliance of mine operation safety laws and regulations.
Analyses data from accident investigations, observations, inspections, and other sources to assure management that programs are working as intended. Proposes alternatives to programs that are not working as intended.
Implements and maintains Emergency Response Plan Procedures.
Conduct annual side wide risk register (IBPR) and follow up priority as appropriate.
Manage Site Wide Risk Register and evaluation of the implementation layer audit for top 10 High Risk to each department involvement.
Responsible to the preparation material (C&P Monthly, MCS, SEE Quarterly Meeting, Board Directors Meeting), etc. for management, government and corporate officials.
Responsible to the preparataion and submittal for accident/incident report to Inspector, monthly report OHS information (internal and external), quarterly for DOME and annual reporting of the department's activities.
Assist Manager OHS to comply with all the OHS mandatory requirements for Company and Business Operations.
Propose and manage section budget and spending as per company policies to achieve efficient operation.
Monitor and control overhead charges, through interrogation of reports on a monthly basis. Report on variance to the OHS Manager and identify improvement opportunities.
What skills and experience do you need?
Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety qualifications or relevant qualification with minimum 12 years of experience working in Smelting, Hot Metal Processing Plant, Sulfuric Acid, Fertilizer, Petrochemical/Chemical industries background is a must; Postgraduate (master's degree in OHS) is preferrable.
Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role in managerial role as Superintendent OHS Operations had operational experience in Occupational Health and Safety, or related field is preferable.
Hands on knowledge of Smelting Processes, Equipment and the associated risks: has a deep understanding of how smelting processes work (furnace operations, handling molten materials, etc.) and the inherent risks (thermal, chemical, and physical)
Understanding of Hazardous Materials and Waste Management: Experience in dealing with hazardous materials like lead, arsenic, sulfur dioxide, and their safe disposal.
Risk Assessment and Incident Investigation: Ability to conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, and thorough investigations of incidents or accidents.
Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, national, and international safety regulations relevant to the smelting industry, such as EPA, OSHA, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration), and environmental regulations. Have strong knowledge of Accident Incident Investigation Method, Work Permit Management System,
Demonstrate, Act decisively and Lead HSE skill in Mineral Processing/Smelting/Petrochemical/Chemical plant, safety engineering, safety project management, human resource management, training or training development with program implementation.
The candidate should possess HSE System Trainings (Investigation, Risk Assessment or other HSE Training supported the system);
Strong leadership and organizational, scheduling & time management skills; Ability to work both independently and as a team player and thrive in a fast paced, high pressure environment; Ability to communicate well, and work productively with internal and external individuals; A commitment to safety and a desire to maintain our operations to world class international safety standards; Demonstrate strong conceptual skills, and capable of developing lateral and practical solutions; High level of integrity and commitment; Good analytical; conflict resolution; sound decision making skills; innovative.
Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate.
