The purpose of this position is to ensure the effective management of smart grid technologies and power dispatch operations, leading efforts to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and sustainability while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.



Some of your duties will include:

Responsible for managing the Batu Hijau electrical grid through centralized, real-time monitoring of system loads. 
Ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of power systems by leveraging advanced technologies to optimize grid performance and achieve operational objectives. 
The superintendent is tasked with effective communication with stakeholders and maintaining the reliability of site-wide electrical supply.
Oversee the operation, maintenance, and development of the SCADA system to ensure real-time monitoring and control of power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Ensure data accuracy, system uptime, and seamless integration with other power system components.
Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to implement system updates, enhance cybersecurity, and optimize performance.
Manage Smart Grid technologies to improve grid reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Batu Hijau electrical grid for reliable and efficient performance, utilizing the smart grid system, including GIS, AIS, SAS, T&D, high-voltage equipment, distribution equipment, and SCADA/ILS systems.
Monitor advanced grid functionalities, including automated fault detection, self-healing systems, and demand response programs.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance grid flexibility and effectively integrate renewable energy sources.
Direct power dispatch operations, optimizing resource allocation to meet real-time load demands.
Monitor grid stability and proactively address potential system disturbances or outages.
Ensure compliance with operational standards and regulations governing power dispatch and load management.
Analyze SCADA and Smart Grid data to derive insights for operational improvements, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.
Develop performance dashboards and reports for management and stakeholders.
Employ predictive analytics to identify potential system issues and recommend preventive measures.
Develop and execute contingency plans for system failures, cybersecurity incidents, or grid disturbances.
Lead emergency response efforts to promptly and safely restore normal operations.
Conduct root cause analyses for incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with project teams to design and implement upgrades for SCADA, Smart Grid, and dispatch systems.
Ensure seamless integration of new technologies and devices into existing infrastructure.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance system capabilities.
Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address compliance gaps.
Provide comprehensive electrical services and technical support across site-wide departments, including new installations, testing, commissioning, engineering reviews, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Develop and enhance strategic plans for power distribution load management and generation to support life-of-mine requirements.
Maximize asset availability by minimizing planned downtime to essential levels, ensuring operational continuity.
Enhance asset reliability by investigating and eliminating unplanned downtime.
Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders to keep them informed of all T&D operation and maintenance activities, facilitating timely and successful project outcomes.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.


What skills and experience do you need?

Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in progressive technical, with at least 4 years in a supervisory role.
Preferred Has SKTTK certificate for this position
Strong understanding of SCADA architecture, Smart Grid technologies, and power dispatch operations.
Experience with ETAP software
Experience with SCADA systems, protective relays, and power dispatch operations is highly desirable.
Knowledge of grid operations, renewable energy integration, and energy storage systems
Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to operate and maintain smart grid, power dispatch and SCADA/ILS
Demonstration of outstanding management, human relations and technical skills.
Demonstration in participation of management/supervisory training development programs.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
Ability to manage team and collaboratively with other departments
Ability to analyse data and identify trends to recommend financial decision

Excellent communication skills in English both verbal and written and computer literate; 
Strong computer skills and be competent in all Microsoft Office software programs, as well as project-specific software and all business and maintenance-related software functions;
Able to work on-site with regular working hour schedule (no roster).
