🔍 RESEARCH ASSISTANT (RA) – Global Seaweed PROTECT

💡 We are looking for a FULL-TIME Research Assistant (RA) to support the international research project GLOBALSEAWEED-PROTECT.

🌍 This is a global initiative consortium between:

🏝️ University of Mataram, Indonesia

🏛️ Natural History Museum, United Kingdom

🌊 Scottish Association of Marine Sciences, United Kingdom

🎓 University of Malaya, Malaysia

🇵🇭 University of the Philippines, Philippines

🌱 Kasetsart University, Thailand

🤝 Yunus Foundation, Thailand

✅ Supported by the UK Research Innovation (UKRI) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).

📚 Specialized training will be provided to develop the necessary skills in:

🔬 Marine biosciences, biotechnology, bioinformatics, statistical analyses, and other relevant research skills.

📜 Application Requirements:

🎓 Bachelor's or Master's degree (Preferably in Biology, Biotechnology, Marine Science, Environmental Science, or an equivalent field).

🗣️ Able to communicate in English.

🤝 Ability to work independently, in a team, and committed to the task given.

🔬 Highly interested and dedicated to research.

📍 Preferably located in Lombok.

💼 Position Details:

📄 Full-time contract with UMCMB.

📝 Job Description and Responsibilities:

📌 Job descriptions and responsibilities of RAs may differ based on the topic they will be working on:

🧬 Topic A:

🔹 DNA barcoding of red and green seaweeds.

🔹 Interpretation and analyses of sequencing data (bioinformatics).

🌱 Topic B:

🔹 Seaweed in vitro aquaculture techniques (spore isolation/micropropagation).

🔹 Development and maintenance of seaweed biobank.

🌍 Topic C:

🔹 Wild and farmed seaweed collection from various regions (including outside NTB).

🔹 Collection of ecological and environmental data.
